What makes SPS different?

Everyday healthy, active people find themselves in traumatic situations where they feel they are left with few options other than an amputation. Situations such as these can become increasingly difficult to accept if a person is fit with a prosthesis that is less than comfortable. Unfortunately, poorly fit sockets, and mal alignment are all too often the culprits that leads to complications such as pain, unsightly gait, and a fit that’s simply lacking in security and stability. An equally disheartening problem can occur when a prosthesis fits fine, but functionally it just hasn’t been designed to keep up to the activity level of the amputee. Our philosophy tends to be somewhat different from other prosthetic providers. You see, we don’t just make prosthetics. We exist to make lives better by providing an entire host of services related to residual limb care. We recognize you as the person wearing the prosthesis are a very important part of the team that makes your fitting a success. To assure your prosthesis will be what you want, we encourage our clients to be very active in communicating their thoughts, concerns, likes, and dislikes. We intentionally keep our schedule very relaxed so you never feel rushed. Typically, our patients are scheduled for either half, or full day appointments. This provides a non-stressful atmosphere and ample opportunity to build solid open relationships between you and our staff.

Take the opportunity to talk with Robert about issues such as previous amputations, past prosthetic management, as well as hopes and goals for the future. And in the event you or someone you love is considering amputation for the first time, or revision surgery, we offer pre-surgical consultations that can be extremely helpful for both the soon to be amputee, as well as their loved ones.

Unfortunately all too often prospective amputees do not take the opportunity to ask questions prior to their surgery. All Amputation surgery is not the same! We gladly provide you with solid information that will offer you early insight and education on the advantages of certain types of amputation techniques. For instance, Robert has personal experience in over 40 documented cases in the past 2 years of both pre and post surgical management of the Ertl Osteomyoplastic Reconstructive Amputation Procedure known as the Ertl bonebridge. This method of amputation is by nature a reconstructive surgical procedure that promotes a pain free distal end weight bearing limb. This procedure can be performed during the initial amputation, or secondarily as a revision.

If you, or someone you know is considering an amputation, it would be our pleasure to introduce them to a number of Ertl bonebridge recipients and let them judge for themselves the dramatic difference.

We realize for some amputees, especially for those amputated above the knee, the ability for their prosthesis to have a high cosmetic value is extremely important. For others, comfort and function may matter the most, and yet for all, a safe secure feeling is an absolute must. We listen, and concerns like these are very real needs, indeed. And if issues like these are high on your priority list, you have come to the right place. Robert is well versed in the latest revolutionary transfemoral socket design developed by Marlo Ortiz, CP called the MAS ramus containment socket. This state of the art socket design offers an extremely comfortable fit for most who have been fortunate enough to experienced it. It also offers exceptional range of motion, and cosmetic concealment, even under form fitting cloths, that makes most other transfemoral socket designs archaic in comparison. With this design, say “good-bye” to lateral gapping and sitting on a socket brim. The MAS ramus containment socket offers above the knee amputees a freedom that is unsurpassed.

Not only do we want you to feel comfortable, safe, and at ease while going through your prosthetic fitting at here at our clinic, but feel the same level of comfort and security once you have received your prosthesis and you are out living life. Its this frame of mind that makes our mission to rise about the standard of care currently offered in the prosthetic industry and produce superior prosthetic solutions enabling amputees, and those who are limb deficient to not just get by, but comfortably perform on a level which rivals and sometimes surpasses that of their fellow man.
